The New Talavana farm community is one of the original Hare Krishna farm centers started by Srila Prabhupada and has been continually in operation since the farm’s founding in 1974.
New Talavana sits on 1,200 acres, in Carriere, Mississippi, and consists of 75+ community members of all ages, hailing from various countries and walks of life. The farm currently provides sanctuary to over 50 cows. Additionally, we grow many fruits, vegetables and flowers in our organic gardens.
New Talavana began at the suggestion of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), who later visited the farm on August 1, 1975, walked the land with disciples and even cooked lunch. (See below photos.) At that time, he gave the farm’s residents their mission of “simple living and high thinking.”

New Talavana’s presiding deities are Sri-Sri Radha-Radhakanta and Sri-Sri Gaura-Nitai. They are served with great love and devotion by Their dedicated team of devotees.
Please consider New Talavana as your home away from home. It’s a true oasis! Here, you can freely bathe your soul in transcendental sound vibrations, gaze in meditation on our captivatingly beautiful deities and read through our books, which reveal the deepest mysteries of life as taught by the greatest teachers of Vedic wisdom for thousands of years. You can come and serve (volunteer) in our kitchen, in the gardens, or with our cows!
