The current temple was built in 1979 by the hands of the New Talavana devotees, with renovations made in 1987.
In 2021, we received a generous donation to begin building a new temple. Please visit our New Temple page for more details.
TEMPLE DEITIES:
New Talavana is presided over by our most merciful and beautiful Lordships, Sri Sri Radha-Radhakanta [Radhakanta is a name for Krishna meaning “lover of Radharani] and Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai [Gaura refers to the golden colored Lord Caitanya, and Nitai refers to his transcendental brother, Nityananda.]
The daily deity worship is performed according to the standards outlined in the Vedic scriptures. This worship of the Lord in His deity form (archa vigraha) is a science that must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
There is a common misconception that this worship of forms of the Lord is polytheistic. Actually, our teachings are more accurately labeled as polymorphic monotheism – there is one supreme Personality of Godhead who simultaneously has many different forms and names. Sri Sri Radha-Radhakanta (Radha-Krishna) is the topmost form of God as the Divine Couple.
